A short week at Sherwood, but busy in the library. If you are in a class that comes to the library on Monday, your books will be due next week (Jan. 26). You are always free to exchange books before school and at open recess times. Here's what we did in the library this week:
Primary Classes (W and F only): We heard "Lost Cat" by C. Roger Mader. This is one of our Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award nominees. We discussed the author's use of words to make the story more interesting for the reader. Vocabulary words: commotion, fled, skedaddled, hectic.
Intermediate Classes (W and F only): The Best Book Program was introduced to students. They learned about the two award lists that make up the "Best Books" (Sasquatch, Young Readers Choice-Jr. Division) and we heard about the first few books on the list. We will be hearing book talks about the remaining titles in the coming weeks! Links to the author websites and "teaser" videos are on our best book page.
Professional: Attended the district librarian meeting at Beverly Elementary Library, met w/ Sarah L from the district technology department to follow up on the coming wifi upgrade and options for Chromebook storage.
