This was an exciting week with the 3rd grade Reading Challenge on Tuesday!  Here's what we did in classes this week:

Kindergarten (Cook): We read "Slug Needs a Hug" by Jeanne Willis.

Kindergarten (Morehouse): We read 2 short books: "A Perfectly Messed Up Story" by Patrick McDonnell and "Wolfie the Bunny" by Anne Dyckman..

Kindergarten (Widener AM & PM):  We read "Hippos Are Huge" by Jonathan London.  We learned many facts about the hippopotomus.

Grade 1 (Bonnell): We read "Marilyn's Monster" by Michelle Knudsen.

Grade 1 (Gordon): We read "We Forgot Brock" by Carter Goodrich.

Grade 1 (Hirst): We read "The Night World" by Mordicai Gerstein.  A great book about the coming of dawn.

Grade 2 (Gregerson): We read "Mango, Abuela, and Me" by Meg Medina.

Grade 2 (Rempel): We read "Up in the Garden and Down in the Dirt" by Kate Messner.

Grade 3: We moved from drafts to working on our final "Best Book I Ever Read" posters.  Some students had to use the catalog to look up their title and autor to get correct spelling!

Grade 4 (Gibson): We completed our digital citizenship pledge.  We came up with a motto for our pledge poster "Think Now, Act Now" and then we took a short assessment on the lesson.

Grade 4 (Mindt): We began a lesson on Spam and what to do about it!

Grade 5: We worked on statements to determine if they were facts or opinions.  If they were facts, students thought of at least two resources that could prove/disprove it.  If it was an opinion we found the word that could be argued.

Grade 6: We began our unit on reading transportation schedules.  We began by exploring the Washington State Ferry Schedule.

Professional: I continued reading "Undaunted Courage" by Stephen Ambrose.  I worked on revising our school's upcoming testing schedule and the specialist schedule for the upcoming conference week.  I helped host the Sno-Isle 3rd Grade Reading Challenge: In-school competition on Tuesday (see post for details).  I attended the Faculty meeting on Wednesday morning.  I found books for teachers and students at other Edmonds SD libraries.  I also weeded several books from the collection.  I hosted our 3rd Snap Circuits MakerSpace event on Tuesday.  I prepared for the WCCPBA meeting held this coming weekend.
