Spring is officially here! Below is what we did in library this week:
Kindergarten (Widener): We created a list of relatives (i.e. grandman, aunt, cousins, etc.) and then we read the award winning story, "The Relatives Came" by Cynthia Rylant.
Kindergarten (Cook/Morehouse): We watched the Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award video to remind ourselves of the books we've heard since November and then we voted for our favorites!
Grade 1 (Bonnell/Gordon): We watched the Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award video to remind ourselves of the books we've heard since November and then we voted for our favorites!
Grade 1 (Hirst/Stillwaugh): We read "Don't Be Silly Mrs. Millie" by Judy Cox. Mrs. Millie has a humorous way of speaking!
Grade 2: We discussed the organization, location, and type of books found in the Everybody Section of our library. We created a class poster that is hanging above the "E" section in our library!
Grade 3 (Keating/Pawling): We completed our "Best Book I Ever Read" posters.
Grade 3 (Liker): We read "Who Wants a Hug" by Jeff Mack and "A Perfectly Messed-up Story" by Patrick McDonnell . Both books are nominees in this year's Washington Children's Choice Picture Book Award.
Grade 4: We worked on our Dewey system activity in partners.
Grade 5: We continues reading news article on Newsela. Students took comprehension quizzes when they completed articles that interested them.
Grade 6: Began working on our unit of reading transportation schedules. First up is the Washington State Ferry Schedule. Students used schedules to find information and to solve problems.
Professional: Helped staff, along with district tech support person, learning about g-mail (our new mail service) on Monday morning. Attended our regular staff meeting Wednesday morning,
