The week before spring break is always a busy one. Here's what we did in library classes this week!
Kindergarten (Cook/Morehouse): We read "The Relatives Came" by Cynthia Rylant.
Kindergarten (Widener): We read "A Possum Come a Knockin'" by Nancy Van Laan. We talked about family and relatives again.
Grade 1 (Hirst/Stillwaugh): We read "The Gruffalo" by Julia Donaldson. We reviewed how books are shelved in the Everybody Section of the library.
Grade 1 (Gordon/Bonnell): We read "Don't Be Silly Mrs. Millie" by Judy Cox. Mrs. Millie has a humorous way of speaking!
Grade 2 (Gregerson): We read "Sp Say the Little Monkeys" by Nancy Van Laan. This was a folktale from South America (Brazil-Amazon).
Grade 2 (Holt/Rempel): We learned how books are organized in the Fiction section. We reviewed how to use a 5-finger check to see if the book is a "just right" book. We made a class poster that will be hanging in the fiction section.
Grade 3 (Keating): We read Washington Children's Choice nominee "Hippos Are Huge" by Jonathan London.
Grade 3 (Pawling): We read Washington Children's Choice nominee "Elizabeth, Queen of the Seas" by Lynne Cox.
Grade 3 (Liker): We read Washington Children's Choice nominee "What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night" by Refe & Susan Tima.
Grade 4: We finished our Dewey System exploration assignment. Students found and recorded the call number and title for one book in each hundreds section.
Grade 5: We continued reading news articles on Newsela. Students also learned about Encyclopedia Britannica Online.
Grade 6: Continued to work on reading a Washington State Ferry schedule
Professional: Prepared books for cataloging. Prepared documents for SBA proctor training.
