This Week in The Library: January 2-5

We are back from Winter Break!  If you regularly have class on Monday, your books will be due next Monday, January 8.  Here's what we did in classes this week:

Primary (K-3 , except Monday classes): We heard "The Darkest Dark" by Chris Hadfield.  Chris was afraid of the dark, but when he watched the 1969 moon landing on TV, his fears left.  Chris went on to become an astronaut!  Vocabulary: astronaut, alien, nervous, huddled.  Video- Chris brushes teeth in space.

Grade 4/5: We learned about the Best Book Program.  We will learn about the titles on this year's list in the coming weeks.  BEST BOOK WEBSITE

Grade 6 (Hanson only): We tool the TRAILS pre-assessment.  This assessment was on information/library skills.

Professional: Updated out library collection plan and met with Lauren Wishkoski about collection development at Sherwood.  Wrote book reviews for Puget Sound Council (we get to keep most of the books for our library collection).  Helped teachers with finding resources for upcoming units of study.  Renewed my membership in the Washington Library Association (WLA).  I also began my 2-year term on the WLA board of directors.
